A gifted, ambitious violinist (John Garfield) sells his body and soul to a rich but unbalanced benefactress (Joan Crawford), who promises to advance his musical career. With great performances, witty dialogue and lavish production standards and musical interludes, dubbed by Isaac Stern. Garfield’s dazzling technique is thanks to two real violinists hidden behind him - one to do the fingering and one the bow work. Bravo!
