Wine Programs Manager

Unpaid internship position
SUMMARY:Work with wine education staff to assist with wine education programs including daily classes/tastings and special events; interact with public in classroom and tasting table setting; assist with administrative needs of 3000 bottle wine cellar; includes database maintenance, ordering, shipping and receiving; conduct educational research; prepare course material andwine exhibitions; possible lead short programs.  
SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
·  Assist with ordering of materials for classes
·  Serve as liaison with other staff members (food, garden and art) regarding wine needs
·   Assist with creation of educational materials for short and long wine classes, special events
and wine exhibitions
·  Create/maintain content for wine stations and wine equipment display
·  Conduct research for programs and wine sourcing
·  Create PowerPoint presentations for wine programs
·   Teach occasional wine programs
·    Maintain database of 3000 bottle wine cellar inventory on Excel with guidance from  the Wine Programs Assistant
·    Assist with wine ordering, and shipping and receiving
·   Transfer wine between cellar and off-site storage facility
·   Assist with set-up and breakdown of daily classes and WSET classes
·   Occasionally staff wine flight bar when Wine Programs Assistant is unavailable

INTERNSHIP GOALS
·Gain experience in researching and developing educational materials in an easy-going writing style to accompany exhibits or complement classes from basic through industry expert levels
·Gain experience in set-up and presentation of wine classes to the public
·Help managing a 3000 bottle wine cellar, learn inventory techniques and record keeping from ordering through receiving and use. 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:Available to routinely work the following schedule:
Dates needed: Ongoing need; spring or summer acceptable
Days of the week:  To be decided; weekend availability required
·Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
·Strong research skills
·Good presentation and communication skills
·Wine knowledge
·Ability to be flexible and at ease with change
·Comfortable working with volunteers
·Ability to lift and move cases of wine weighing up to 40 pounds
·Valid CA Driver’s License and minimum auto liability insurance coverage
